I enjoyed the overall story but this book was a bit of a mess.

To start, it could’ve been 300 pages shorter. There was so much filler that was equal parts too detailed but also gave us nothing (why were there so many damn council meetings when they literally did nothing?!). I also felt like the found family trope was really forced. I get why it was needed it but it would’ve been more believable had those foundations been established with Diana in the first book.

There were also a lot of inconsistencies. Samkiel doesn’t know what a date is or most mortal slang for that matter but knows to call Diana “baby” when they’re boinking? He’s either an out of touch god or he’s assimilated- pick one. And the names were too much. Liam-Samkiel-Sami and then all of Diana’s names felt so clunky. The whole Liam thing never made sense in the first book anyways but it felt so weird to just completely abandon in this one.

The foreshadowing was less of a shadow and more of a shouting plot twists directly in our faces. How does a thousand year old celestial completely disregard a very foreboding message from a fate? He flat out told them “yer fucked” and they just acted like they were so stumped by the fate and his tricky riddles?!

I’ll probably continue with the series but I hope it gets an editor because I cannot slog through 800+ pages of filler again 🙏🏻
