I was a little apprehensive about continuing this series since after the first one, the Cursebreakers trilogy went a bit downhill with the lack of Rhen and Harper and the miscommunication trope, but man I’m glad I picked this up. It was an absolute ride, for sure the best book of the five of BK’s books that I have read.
Did I cry? Um yeah, a lot.
Did I laugh? Sure did.
Did I ever want to put this book down? No, but life and obligations rudely expected me to put them first.
The new characters (Callyn, Jax) were brilliant, their choices and actions made so much sense due to their past and they were genuinely likable. The storyline of the rebellion against Grey’s rulership made total sense (he’s a soldier not a King) but how the townspeople reacted to him also made total sense. What I loved about this was that it felt so real, perception was everything.
Loved it, hope the next one continues on this trajectory.
