Matthew Prince is not a very likable character at the beginning, and that’s obvious from the title. Trust me, you’ll learn to love the judgmental jerk. Hector is a whole lot easier to love, but he has a few quirks himself. Luckily, these two learn to be their best selves when they are together.

I had a lot of fun with this story. First of all, I love a good Christmas romance. Throw in a small town and a holiday gala that the main characters must put on together, and it’s like my catnip. It helps that Matthew and Hector have fantastic chemistry.

Sometimes Matthew came across as much younger than he was, but it’s understandable with the privileged upbringing he had. The fact that his parents “sent him away” when he’s a full-grown adult makes his immaturity obvious. Yet, because he was often left to his own devices, there are aspects of Matthew that are wise beyond his years.

I’m really enjoying this author. I’m glad I finally got around to reading his stories.
