The Dream Job by Kiersten Modglin

3.0

This was the most frustrating book I have read / listened to in a long while.
Still want to give it 3 1/2 stars

Autumn Sanders is in desperate need of a job. She has just moved to New York with her mom, who is very sick and she is having to take care of. She is so far in debt that she can't see a time that she wont have bills to pay. She is applying for jobs all over New York but can't get one. Then she goes on an interview for a job but she doesn't know what the job is. During the interview they tell her the job pays $500k a year, who wouldn't want that job. What is the job, she doesn't know but when when she gets called back for a second interview, she agrees without really thinking. The second interview involves staying somewhere away from her mom for a week. This is where the fun really begins, right?

For me this is where I started to get frustrated. Throughout the story Autumn encounters several people who are also trying to get the job that she is. During her stay with them they are forced to ask themselves the question 'Is there anything that you wouldn't do for money?'

The thing that I found the most frustrating about this story is that Autumn is annoyingly naïve. She wont let things go which to me causes her to be extra winey.

Even though I found the main character to be irritating I still had to finish the book. I had to find out what was really going on. With the other applicants for the job, the other people at the house and the job. I wasn't disappointed, in fact I was very surprised and happy that I stuck with it and finished the book.
