I was sold a bill of goods with this one. I was promised a love story set at the turn of the 20th century w/ elements of magical realism. What I got was a messy, overlong, over-written fable of American exceptionalism, a white supremacist fever dream. I shouldn't have finished it, but I'm too damn stubborn. For the love of god, don't bother.
