Vow of the Shadow King by Sylvia Mercedes

5.0

Vor and Faraine’s story continues in “Vow of the Shadow King,” the thrilling second book in Syvlia Mercedes’ Bride of the Shadow King fantasy romance trilogy.

Tensions are high throughout the majority of this book, and there’s a whole heck of a lot of angst. For me, that just adds to the brilliance of it all, and I found myself entranced by Vor and Faraine’s interactions.

Vor is dealing with a lot. He might be king, but he’s dealing with a lot of opposition, and this whole alliance with the humans has angered some of his subjects.

As a result, Vor struggles to choose between his blossoming feelings for Faraine and what he believes he must do for the sake of his people, since he doesn’t believe he can have both.

As for Faraine, I really felt like she had some fantastic character development in this one. She grew a spine, and she became more willing to stand up for herself and fight for what she wanted.

I think she’s in a difficult position for sure, but she definitely tries to make the best of the situation. I think Faraine is so very strong, as well as incredibly brave.

To sum this up, I’m so glad I decided to read this trilogy, and I’m looking forward to seeing how Vor and Faraine’s story ends!
