This book was an emotional rollercoaster! I loved Ro as the supportive best friend in Unsteady. It was nice getting to know even more about her. Since the timeline of this book is the same as the first, there are moments when I was reminded of what events are happening with Sadie at the same time. Boy, did these roommates go through a lot in a short amount of time. Even being connected as they are, one could read them each as separate standalones.
Ro’s journey to rediscover her self-confidence was tough. I was screaming at her to stand up! Especially in those first few scenes with Tyler. She was so thoroughly manipulated, ugh. Tyler, you’re lucky you’re a fictional character.
Ro and Freddy were the perfect meshing of complicated people. Freddy was supportive and not afraid to remind Ro that she’s enough as is. Ro was the advocate Freddy never expected. I can’t put into words how much I loved them together. They were so perfectly matched. The chemistry and care were off the charts!
This book dealt with many difficult topics like grief, manipulation in relationships, and abuse of power imbalance. Be sure to check your triggers before reading. I recommend this book to readers who enjoy romance books with emotional journeys.
