The first 100 pages or so of this book made me dnf it the first time I tried to read it. I decided to give it another go and try to finish it and holy moly am I glad I did! The ending blew me away and hit me with twist after twist! I couldn’t put this book down.

The world building may have been clunky at first, but it all made sense the more you read. I didn’t expect to fall in love with this world and these characters. She really created a world full of magic and whimsy while also making it dark and gothic and that’s my favorite combination.

Isla is such an amazing lead. I will always hold her character near and dear to my heart. Grim and Oro oh my goodness. Don’t even get me started on them. I have too many words but also not enough. I hope in the next book we get to learn more about Azul as he was kind of neglected in this book. I’ll be picking the next one up as soon as possible!
