How Do You Live? by Genzaburō Yoshino

I read this book because of Miyazaki's upcoming adaption. I am certainly not the target audience for a cute novel that teaches basic morality to children, but I could not help finding it a bit too preachy at times. Regardless, I am excited to see this story come alive through animation.
