Cuddly Holocaust by Carlton Mellick III

3.0

As expected, this is bonkers. Following the sort-of-established formula of bizzarro fiction, Cuddly Holocaust is a violent, murderous little oddball. It's inventive, weird, creepy and disturbing. However, all its positives are also specular to its limitations meaning that it's yes, bizarre and twistedly fun with some really disturbing downsides but all of this weirdness doesn't allow for great depth in its structure. Story progression is rather formulaic, dropping in rhythm in its second part picking up some steam in a really twisted finale, while the style is really simple and dry, never really elegant in its simplicity, just simple, easy-going.
All of things considered, it's a gross and hallucinatory piece of entertainment and one should go in looking for weirdness for weirdness sake- I did so, and I wasn't disappointed.
