The Reluctant Fundamentalist
by Mohsin Hamid
3.5 I liked the writing and the framing device, but I'm just not sure I'm convinced. Did the main character really experience no racism before 9/11? Was he really that naive about America's foreign affairs before that as well? And the disposable girlfriend to add more angst just became a cliche.
That being said its an important book for insights into the changing world through non-american eyes, and elegantly written.
