The Kennedy Debutante
by Kerri Maher
Before I read this book, my knowledge of the Kennedy family was limited. Most of what I knew was about John F and Bobby Kennedy - and that there was a lot of tragedy within the family. It was interesting reading about Kick Kennedy and learning more about her family.
I was hoping for more from the story, though. I don’t know if it’s the writing style of the author that I didn’t like so much, or maybe it was because it’s her debut novel, but there was some parts of the story that just felt lacking. Almost all of the story was told from Kick’s POV. Some points in the novel felt a bit repetitive. There was also a couple points in the story where she talks about knowing something, specifically other people’s job during the war, and I know there is no way that would have been known to Kick. That information was top secret.
This novel has made me interested in learning more about the Kennedy family, and I’ll probably read up about them more in the future, especially Kick. She was a fascinating woman and it’s terrible her life was so short.
