Nothing Personal for Breakfast by Jennifer Ann Shore

4.0

This was an adorable story! The characters felt so realistic as did their individual lives within the book. You have a young lawyer who is starting out in her career and a barista working minimum wage while focusing on his art on the side. They both have real life struggles and the interactions they have with each other doesn’t feel like it’s exaggerated for the sake of the story. It reads as if it could be any couples story plucked off the streets of New York which I found so refreshing. Jack sounds like such a catch and I instantly took a liking to him. Gemma was likable for me as well and I completely understand her hesitancy towards a relationship. The witty banter back and forth kept a smile on my face throughout most of the book so I’d highly recommend if you’re looking for something light hearted and sweet to read. The time jumps were easy to follow as it clearly stated at the beginning of those chapters how much time had passed and there were no sudden time jumps within a chapter to mess with the flow of the story. There was even a little surprise towards the end that I never guessed was coming and the shock factor it brought with it was so unexpected and fun to experience. Especially when I didn’t think there would be anything of that nature happening in the story. I enjoyed this book a lot and it was just what I needed to read in between some of the darker/heavier stories on my lists.
