A Curse of Blood & Stone
by K.A. Tucker
4.5/5
Was lucky enough to get an ARC of this book and I’m so glad I did because I couldn’t wait a single more day to get back to Islor. I love the characters so much. We get to know the everyday people, keepers and mortals, of Islor a lot more in this book which was tedious at times but enriches the plot and world a lot!
I loved seeing Romy come into herself and her power more. I loved her dynamics with Zander in this book.
We really get to see both of them fight for what they believe in and come to terms with the truth as it unravels.
I loved the tension throughout the whole book. I could feel the mistrust the whole time in every plot point. No one was safe. Towards the last quarter, I didn’t know who to trust at all or who was gonna survive.
Overall it was a little slow at the beginning and definitely more world building than the first book. However, it still never felt like info dumping to me because the writing is so engaging and there’s something important in every chapter. KA Tucker does a great job keeping the tension and the action up even when she slowly works up to the climax and main points of the plot. The ending is unexpected but comes together so nicely!
