I liked the personality and the writing style was very engaging. The characters interacted with a lot of chemistry. I love Cordie’s little friend group. However, the plot was extremely slow and frankly not well thought out. It’s insanely boring when the main character is kept so far out of the action like Cordie is. The Boston/home renovations stuff took up an unneeded amount of story real estate. Like, your lifelong friends have moved to the same city for the first time in a while and you’re going to f*ck off to Boston for barely any reason? I don’t buy it.
The antagonist was extremely short sighted and one-dimensional. The Rock Point senator stuff ended up being really satisfying. I kinda wish he’d been the main villain instead. The romance and ultimately the ending was incredibly bland. Not a very exciting book, just kinda friendly with a few exciting spots and talking about real estate. 2.5 stars.
