My Wonderful World of Slapstick by Charles Samuels, Buster Keaton

funny informative reflective medium-paced

3.0

For a celebrity memoir from 1960, its fine. He spends most of the book reflecting on his career rather than his personal life (never names his first wife, second gets two brief mentions, third gets slightly more, but again, its very "I married my third wife around this time") which is cool, though he spends pages describing his favorite movies, scene by scene, which made sense for a book released in the 60s before people had instant access to viewing them, but is a bit monotonous when you can just YouTube them now.

Slight side eye at his horrible remarks toward Virginia Rappe. I get Fatty was his best friend, but that girl did nothing to Fatty other than painfully die after one of his hotel parties, there was no need to call her fat (gasp! 135lbs at 5'7! What a whale!) or slander her character.

3 stars.
