Holly and Ivy are best friends, and also not the biggest fans of Christmas, despite their festive names. When Holly’s fiancé leaves her the day before their wedding she gifts the non-refundable honeymoon vacation to Ivy, who was about to embark on her annual art-retreat. In return, Ivy sends Holly to a remote eco-cabin in the Hudson Valley to escape the cancelled-wedding drama, and to sort out her feelings. While learning that she isn’t much of an eco-cabin person, Holly reunites with her high school rival, Aiden. Ivy is instantly obsessed with the picturesque surroundings on Kauai, but when she runs into Holly’s ex with his new girlfriend, a handsome bartender swoops in and saves the day. Two best-friends, two new chances at love, all during a magical time of the year!
This was a fun take on the Christmas film The Holiday, and I appreciated that while Dual-POV, this bounced between two best friends rather than love interests! This was another Fated Mates Podcast recommendation, and it’s a great read for those weird days between Christmas and New Year’s. Though far from my favorite romcom read, (a little too predictable, and withholding information never leads to anything good) this was still cute and excellently narrated by Brittany Pressley!
