This book was fine. It was a cute sapphic romance even if the plot points sometimes felt improbable. Opal was a difficult character for me to read because she would swing from overly people pleasing to standing her ground at the strangest times with pepper it became hard to believe. Also the need to do things you know are bad for you just didn't make sense to me. STOP DYING YOUR HAIR GIRL!

Pepper was an easier and more relatable character to me. She was so shy and awkward. It was sweet. I also loved how she spoke of her grandma and how much she loved her.

I also struggled to find the chemistry between the two characters. They just didn't feel like they fit to me. I like to think that I just missed it though because I definitely could have. This is my usual romance novel.

I was also struggling with the idea of any land in WNC being sellable for $300k. It's been a minimum of a half mil for a good chunk of my life, especially for being close to Asheville. This would barely be doable in my tiny hometown of 1000 people and wouldn't get you more than a max of 5 acres with a house on it (and that's a deal!).

Also the audiobook could have just been taking me out of the story though. It kept mispronouncing Appalachian (it's like latching a gate guys!!! I'm a WNC native!) and that is a pet peeve of mine when the book is set in an area like WNC. The audiobook should use the correct pronunciation for the area the story is set.
