If only I could urge every single person to read Heartstopper. These graphic novels are like warm hugs. I devoured the first four volumes and am eagerly anticipating the fifth. What Alice Oseman did is nothing short of incredible. She created a world that so beautifully reflects the one we live in, but she also created this little bubble where these characters are encouraged to be who they are and that is something supremely special.

Being a teenager is hard and it is even harder still when you feel like you have to hide who you really are in order to just survive. Alice expertly crafts a support group for each of her characters but she also inserts stress and drama and yearning and the understanding that sometimes, love isn't enough. Sometimes, we need to do the hard work for ourselves and no one else, despite how many people we have in our corner. And that's scary to think about, but also a bit freeing, no? To think that we can do the hard work, fail miserably, and know that we always have a soft place to land with those who love us.

Everyone needs to read these.
