I love everything I have read by Butler so far, but also wtf: this book was actually insane. The vampire lore stuff was pretty cool and I liked the ending, however I couldn’t get over the fact that the main character looks like a 10 year old and has sex with adults. It was really disturbing and creepy. I honestly didn’t think I could get through the first half of the book with how prevalent it was. I know folks will be like “she’s a vampire, so it’s not technically pedophilia,” but like… if you have to use technicalities, it’s still pretty gross. Butler’s writing style is phenomenal as always and I always love the little hints she puts into names, which was really prevalent in this novel. I still love the author, but this was far from my favorite.
