The Blue, Beautiful World by Karen Lord

adventurous mysterious fast-paced

4.5

I was looking forward to reading this book from the longlist as it's not my usual genre (science fiction) and I was excited to read something different. It didn't dissapoint. I was intranced by the writing style, so descriptive and easy to visualise from the start. I loved how it delved straight into the plot, and was so fast paced. Although a lot of characters and concepts get introduced I was reassured that the author was taking us on a fantastical journey.
At times, I felt a bit lost at the complexity of the storylines and the amount of detail of the planet names and races, but I just went with it and it didn't deter my enjoyment overall.
Slightly jarred that it's book 3 of a series, and havnt read any of the others, but still was a good read.
Really refreshing writing and will definetly read from this author again.
