Unearthed by Meagan Spooner, Amie Kaufman

3.0

Rating: 3.5 stars

I did not think I would like Unearthed as much as I did! The main reason I picked it up was because it was co-written by Amie Kaufman, who wrote Illuminae with Jay Kristoff which I really loved. Going into Unearthed, I had little to no expectations for it, and I was pleasantly surprised.

Unearthed felt very Indiana Jones-ish the whole time, which I am not at all disappointed about.

Our two narrators, Jules and Amelia (Mia), reminded me so much of Carter and Sadie from The Kane Chronicles by Rick Riordan, it was honestly uncanny!
Spoiler Well, except for the fact that Jules and Mia kissed a couple of times, and Sadie would rather die than kiss her brother.
They were similar even down to their personal appearances: Sadie and Mia both have bright colours streaked through their hair, and Carter and Jules both had dark skin and hair, but not too dark as their mums both had white skin and dads had dark.

Because I kept seeing Sadie and Carter in Jules and Mia, I do think it helped me to enjoy Unearthed more, along with the overall Indiana Jones feel of the novel.
