Choosing Theo by Victoria Aveline
5.0
5 ⭐️ “you should hope for a knight in dented, scratched, rusted armor. That knight has fought and survived.”
Bumping this one to five, because any book I continue to love after reading it so many times deserves its place in my Five Stars' Hall of Fame. This is my third time rereading this book, and it just never gets old. I crave stories like this one so badly and they are so hard to find. This is my favourite alien romance - hands down!
After Jade is abducted from her home and delivered into a faraway planet, she really doesn’t know much of anything anymore… Except that she intends to survive whatever is happening to her and make her way back to Earth. When she manages to flee, she rummages the woods for days without food or water until she finally finds help. And this brand-new planet she’s found herself in has some strange customs… the most important of all being that females are to partake in 3-month-long marriages to a male their choosing. And after being presented with many options, Jade decides that Theo, with his interesting markings and his surly eyes is truly the only one that stood out to her. But everyone else seem to have the strangest reaction to him… Could it be his intricate tattoos? Or the fact that he didn’t really seem like he wanted to be there?
The story, the worldbuilding, the angst… it absolutely slaps - all of it. There’s just no other way about it! This book is amazing!! There’s strangers/enemies-to-lovers, there’s primal play, there’s soulmates, there’s HUSBANDRY SCHOOL (excuse me while I hyperventilate), there’s a bad-boy, sad-boy MMC, there’s a baddass FMC with commitment issues… I MEAN, COME ON!! This book literally has EVERYTHING you could possibly crave! The ending can get a bit rough, so check TW.
Overall, this book is fantastic. I 100% recommend it and I will 100% be rereading this again at some point in the near future because I can’t stay away!
