Book 1 of the League of Pensioners series
79 year old Martha has had enough, the retirement home she lives in has been rebranded and the residents are being treated like old people! The cut backs and new staff mean that Martha and her friends are being treated ‘worse than people in prison.’ They decide to take matters into their own hands and come up with a plan which will land them in a Stockholm prison and thus getting them the lifestyle they deserve.
My thoughts: Great premise with funny moments but i found the writing too much description and not enough action. I found the book quite boring in places but the plot kept me interested as I wanted to know how it would end.
The story is not realistic at all so you need to go into this with an open mind. The storyline just gets sillier and sillier as it goes on but I’m glad i finished it. I am amazed this is a series of books as I feel like 1 was enough. I won’t be reading more of the series.
