Prélude à Fondation by Isaac Asimov

5.0

I would never have guessed that I would read this masterpiece of a book in French — but it was gifted to me by my Uncle, in French — so here I am. It is one of my best reads of the year so far. I had watched the show on Apple TV+ (first two seasons, still impatiently waiting for the other ones to come), and I had guessed that the book was really good. But I did not know it would be good to this extent. I can only imagine now how good the book must be in English. I have this one and several others of the series in French (also gifted to me by my Uncle), but I will switch to English as soon as I can. Reading a text that I know was written in English, in French can be a tad cringy at some points. That aside, I was impressed with how much of a visionary Asimov was. He nearly had figured out all the technologies we have today, but way back in the 1950s. I am simply astonished. Read it if you can!
