The Chestnut Man
by Søren Sveistrup
This book is a bit long in places, unnecessarily so with the excess details. It was almost like reading a screenplay instead of a story. rating is 3.5, I liked it overall.
We have a serial killer who seems to be killing with no rhyme or reason at first, and the evidence left at the scene is tied to a case from 1 year ago, a missing girl presumed dead, but no body is ever found. Our police officers are scrambling to figure everything out before another woman is murdered.
The murders are not explained in print, but the scene of the crime is after the fact, it is very detailed and a bit gruesome, so it may be too much for some to handle.
Due to listening to the audio book and this taking place in a different country I have a hard time with all the names as they are not common here, the audio book was also read by someone with an accent so it was harder to pick up on some things.
Overall it was a well written story, the plot keeps you moving along trying to figure out who the killer is, and mostly why they were killing.
I didn't figure it out until more than 3/4 of the way through, that is a book done well in my opinion.
This is also now a Netflix series, I'm looking forward to watching!
