This is the second book I read from the Maiden’s Bookshelf series. While Hell in a Bottle gave me mixed feelings, The Moon Over the Mountain got me emotional during my work shift when all I wanted was some light reading lol.

Message it delivers holds up to the test of time, considering how much it resonates with my own life predicaments.

This short story also comes with illustrations by an artist I’m familiar with, whose artbook (Soirée) I also coincidentally reviewed.

I think with all these together, this book is a solid read and it (and the series as a whole) is a pretty good way to engage in Japanese classics for someone who hasn’t done so before.
