Overall, I liked this book. This was one that I initially DNFd and revisted in audio format. The initial DNF was for a few reasons. 1. I don't love books set in LA. As a New Englander I have a natural tendency to hate all things Los Angeles. 2. The "everyone likes Seinfeld" moment gave me the ick. Jerry Seinfeld, they could never make me like you. 3. I was reading another magical realism book at the time that I liked more and abandoned this one.

After revisiting it, there are things I liked about it. I liked the message of "live while you're alive" (RIP Gavin Creel). Oftentimes so many of us resign ourselves to whatever fate is set before us. That being said, I didn't feel connected to any of the characters. I don't feel like I was ever rooting for any of them. I was not really invested in their ending. Interesting twists, but something was lacking for me. Could just be my personal preference though so don't let it stop you from reading.
