The Lathe of Heaven by Ursula K. Le Guin
3.5
dark mysterious reflective medium-paced
Plot or Character Driven: A mix
Strong character development: Complicated
Loveable characters: No
Diverse cast of characters: Yes
Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes

Le Guin's language is exemplary, and the central concept both utterly fascinating and harrowingly terrifying. Though it seems to have aged poorly in places, the world presented still feels eerily relevant today as it's dystopian echoes hit a little too close to home in our current time. I found it hard to relate to the characters, finding them a little distant (perhaps a product of their time), but their motives were still clear and well-developed as Le Guin asks the reader 'what kind of peace is left when we dare to play God ourselves'.
