This book was different than any book I’ve read. I felt like it was a biography but at the same time a tragedy. The writing was really different. It kept going from past to future to present and it wasn’t quite clear for me. The direction the story was trying to go.
You’re probably wondering why I didn’t stop reading the book because at points I wanted to see where it went the reasoning behind certain parts of the story and the journey that they went on where it would conclude
I found the story it says it’s about love but not about Sam and Sadie but then I found the story was primarily about them and their story but I wouldn’t necessarily say it was about love. There was a lot of dark themes darkness in the story if I was to describe it like that Themes that were written very calmly and yet they were actually quite severe.
An example would be Dov he was a very controlling toxic character and yeah, I feel like the story brushed over this really easily.
I loved the cover of this book very great looking and it was what initially made me want to read it! The vibrant colours and the wave on the front too, it was nice to find out the reasoning behind the name being Macbeth.
I really liked Marx and I’m struggling to find the reason for his passing. I can understand it in the sense of this book just throw tragedy and tragedy and turning point and shock and surprise throughout but I found there was not a lot of good in the book. there was not a lot of positive and there was not a lot of happiness. I think that’s what’s confusing me that the book says it’s about love but they don’t love themselves. they don’t love each other they don’t love other people.
I’m not saying it’s a bad book, but it definitely wasn’t the book for me. The concepts I either haven’t grasped them or they’re not concepts that I would regularly read.
A reminder a 2 ⭐ from me means I wasn't a fan. Personally I just could not get onboard with this book. I wont be as fast to recommend this book as I had a hard time finishing it but I didn't feel like DNFing.
