The Hiding Place by Corrie ten Boom
3.0

I throughly enjoyed the first part of this book. I’ve been to Harrlem so I was fun remembering the beautiful little streets and the tall homes nestled so close together. I loved the little family and their traditions and even found their faith comforting.

And then the second part of the story happened… Religion… The Bible….Preaching. At first I thought whatever it takes to get them through their hell, but after a while I honestly was done listening to the ridiculous rhetoric of the holy word.

I’m sorry but praying for the abusers and feeling sorry for them? Thanking God for fleas? Happy to be naked like Christ was on the cross? If they were near me spewing that nonsense I would have smacked them both silly!

I like to think of myself and a decent, forgiving person. But I can say with a whole heart that if there is a Hell I hope every single person who was complicit in the horrors of the Holocaust burns in it for all eternity.
