I got this book to know more of Ottoman history; it did not disappoint.

From redefining Columbus’s sea voyage to the Americas partly as a ‘crusade’ against the Ottoman Empire, and conveying Selim’s hectic, game-of-thrones political life, I am left stunned at how much history intertwined with one another. I’ve never watched or read Game of Thrones but this book is what I imagined the series would be.

As a pushback to some saying that this book is just plain pro-Ottoman propaganda; as a critical reader, you would know how to discern a statement of fact from a statement of opinion. Mikhail presents facts as it is whilst interjecting with historical analysis, sometimes a bit of psychoanalysis. Debate the opinions, but you can’t deny that they are valid.
