Land of Shadows by Rachel Howzell Hall

3.0

This is my first Rachel Howzell Hall book and it won't be my last even though I found this one to be lacking in some aspects.

Elouise Norton is an LAPD detective who gets called in on a case that appears to be the suicide of a teenage girl but turns out to be murder. Elouise finds herself drawn to this case which has many parallels to her sister's disappearance two decades ago that was never solved.

The premise of the novel was a good one but I felt like it could have used a better pacing and a bit more editing. That being said, I really liked Elouise Norton and will definitely be reading more books in this series. Hall definitely has the makings of being a top-notch writer in the police procedural genre.
