The Wolf King follows a princess as she is (somewhat voluntarily) kidnapped to the enemy Wolf kingdom’s territory. There are many fantasy romance tropes to behold: royalty, enemies(ish) to lovers, as-yet-defined greater powers at play, a likely love triangle with the golden boy and the shadow daddy (though we have been promised to not get Tamlin-ed this time). Frankly, I did not expect the Wolf King to withstand the hype, but I will be joining the chorus. This book hit so many notes for me. A princess who feels a connection to her wildness, to nature, that feels genuine, a love story (or 2) that I can get behind, a woman that maybe actually isn’t like other girls but isn’t a NLOG…I am genuinely intrigued by the mysteries as they’re unfolding, excited to learn more about the magic of this world, and glad that our princess seems to be growing out of the “stubborn, fiery, with a penchant for terrible decision making based on nothing” streak that so many FMCs seem to have. LOVED this book.
