They say there’s a wild man out here—a priest of the old gods, or a desperate criminal, or just an ordinary lunatic.

I don't know what that was. I didn't really understand the first half of the book, and then towards the middle the story started to come together in front of me. It had beautiful lines, to say it so, but for me, it was slow (even so short). I loved the characters, especially Bramble, and I liked the folklore, mythology in the book.
