Catch and Kill: Lies, Spies, and a Conspiracy to Protect Predators by Ronan Farrow
3.0
This is a really well-written book, especially considering how many obstacles Farrow faced investigating this. So many of the men accused have had rumors floating around them for years, so it seems like this should have been easy, but it's really astounding how many people were determined to protect Weinstein's (and others') reputation.
The book is kind of self-reflective in the way that Farrow is a part of the story, but he also isn't. His voice should not be heard above the victims', but it's still important in terms of how shrouded this story was. There's a part where Ronan talks about how abrasive he was to his sister (Dylan) for not letting go of what happened to her, and I kind of wanted more realization there in regards to how we treat victims. There's a lot of is there/is there not conflict of interest with Farrow being Woody Allen's son, and even though it would have made the book less "journalistic," I think it would have been stronger for acknowledging it more.
