Wow okay this book was so much better than I thought it would be.
I must admit I was spoilt for the ending to this first book as I accidentally read the synopsis of the third book thinking it was the first 🤦🏼♀️.
We follow Rhen, the Crown Prince of Emberfall, where he must find a girl to fall in love with him in order to break the curse put on him by an enchantress, Lilith. Harper, a girl from DC, with cerebral palsy, is sucked into Rhen’s world on his last season to break the curse. Will she be able to help break the curse and save Emberfall?
The premise of this book, as a beauty and the beast retelling is very good. I loved the fact that Harper was not a submissive girl and wouldn’t not let her disability stop her from doing what she wanted, when she wanted. Her character arc as a whole, I thought, was very realistic for the challenges she faced, in light of what Rhen wanted from her while juggling her mother’s illness and her brother’s troubled situation. Rhen was arrogant and loveable in the same sentence. Seeing his perspective enabled us as the reader to understand how his fears dictate his choices. Grey I thought was just another solider to give us a love triangle but he was so much more than that; he gave us friendship and loyalty.
I cannot wait to pick up the second and third book to see where these characters go. The last chapter had me excited, nervous and everything in between.
