Fourth Wing took me right back to my teenage years. Reading about Violet entering Basgiath War College reminded me what it was like reading Twilight and Divergent until midnight. Was Fourth Wing the best book ever? Definitely not.  With all the hype surrounding this book, I have to admit I expected more of it. Throwing my expectations of an original brutal high fantasy book out of the window, Fourth Wing became a fast-paced and enjoyable read though. I especially liked the first half of the book, those pages flew by. The challenges set at Basgiath War College kept me invested, Violet's disability was a refreshing change to the strong female MC archetype and the dragons were an absolute highlight, Adarna in particular.  That's why, even though Fourth Wing was juvenile and full of cliche tropes, I still enjoyed this read. Unfortunately, I did lose a bit of interest in the second part of the book, due to the heavy focus on romance and sexual tension. I nevertheless still look forward to reading Iron Flame though. Fingers crossed for even more bad-ass dragons in this part!
