The Bear's Chosen Mate by Vivian Arend

3.0

The bear shifter Borealis brothers have been ordered by their grandfather to give into the mating fever and provide him with great-grandchildren... or else! James is the first to get hit by the fever, just as a storm approaches and his old friend, bobcat shifter Kaylee, comes to check on him. Kaylee has longed for him for ages but considers him off-limits to protect their friendship and because she feels like she would never be a good enough mate for one of the prestigious Borealis clan. Guess what happens...
I found this book to be a little short on plot but I liked the characters a lot. I would have liked to have seen more of their earlier friendship in action, as that was rather endearing. I am also really curious to find out why Kaylee's parents sent her all those cats, and how she and James were going to deal with this.
I also enjoyed the way that the different shifters had discussions with their animal selves when deciding a course of action, and this is another thing I'd have like to see more of.
