The vampire lestat is very well written and a interesting prequel to interview. I personally love the overlapping with queen of the damned and just how much lore and backstory we get on akasha and Marius as well as armand. I like how too the book expands with what we learn as lestat world expands, it was also interesting to see a lot of the religious stuff in here and some pagan beliefs and how it’s related to akasha and enkill and myths/ stories they created to protect themselves. I also like that we get very in depth how vampires are actually made in this book and the painful blood transfusion process and have it explored more. Overall a fun read, very well written; I personally just don’t like lestat and the pacing is off at certain points in the book, but would definitely recommend even for people who haven’t read the vampire chronicles before. On a final note too I think TVL explores death and grief the best out of any of her books here and I love the very beautiful, emotional way it’s described without romanticising it or making it flowery.
