Grady Green is a best-selling author, married to an investigative journalist, Abby. While talking on the phone during her drive home, Abby stops to help a woman lying in the road… and never comes back to her car or her phone. Grady tries to find her, but after a year and no news, his career and life have fallen apart. His agent recommends he travel to a remote Scottish island to push through the writer’s block. While the island seems idyllic at first, things aren’t as they seem, and Grady thinks he sees Abby among the residents…
The descriptive writing really placed me in the Scottish Highlands along with Grady. The island residents were mysterious and hard to read, which made the story gripping and twisty. Compared to other Alice Feeney stories, the big reveal wasn’t as exciting as I hoped, but it was still a fun, engrossing read.
