Before going any further, I wanted to make note that this book (at least at the time of this review) is available on Kindle Unlimited to read for free. This was the medium I chose to read this book.

Ultimately, I'd chosen to read this book because of the continuous comparisons I'd seen of it to Harry Potter when browsing reviews. Admittedly, there were several nuances to this book that had that nostalgic Harry Potter vibe to them.

Although, depending on the severity of your fanship towards Harry Potter, you may almost feel as if these aspects suspiciously feel *too* much like Harry Potter. However, it can be argued that post-Harry Potter and Twilight era of entertainment, everyone seems to snag little fragments of everyone else's stories and try to build upon them. Therefore, it depends on whether you're comfortable with that knowledge going in.

In the end, I felt this was an entertaining read. The author did a splendid job of fleshing out the characters in the story whilst incorporating a few unique twists along the way. I look forward to seeing further character development in future books.

The main character, Harley, is an empath, meaning she can sense people's emotions. I felt this was a very unique take on the paranormal/magical world and look forward to seeing Harley's story unfold further.

I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking for something slightly different from the run-of-the-mill witchcraft and wizardry books, yet desires reminiscent nuances of Harry Potter peppered in like sprinkles on ice cream.
