Fun historical research/reconnaissance story with lots of action, various other kinds of drama, and a protagonist and several other characters with big personalities. I may read other books in the series, and hopefully the author's choice of expletive calms down.

Several missed punctuation marks throughout and a couple misspellings; a word missing a double consonant and the use of the incorrect "nerve-racking" instead of the correct "nerve-wracking." Perhaps I read the initial self-published version and it's been corrected since; I don't know.

Content notes: too many F-bombs, both in intense and casual situations. I counted sixteen (on pages 50, 86, 124, 125, 169, 175, 178, 180, 191, 195, 244, 254, 312). Knocked a star off for that.

Trigger warnings: attempted SA on page 125, with lead-up exposed on pages 137, 138, 140. Miscarriage on page 202, 204, 215, and referenced a few more times later on in the story. Unnecessary description of consensual semi-rough sex on pages 163-164, with milder follow-up references on page 167 and the first half of 168.

I think this had showed up on my Goodreads feed a few times and that's why I wanted to read it. Got through in about <6 or so hours today (between a library outing, working on a project, and being very drained), I'd guess.
