Small Gods by Terry Pratchett
5.0

“Don’t put your faith in gods. But you can believe in turtles. “

Original plan was to start Discworld with “ Mort”. I ordered it from overseas (special hardback edition) which will take a while to arrive. Thus I decided to read a stand-alone book in the series, and boy, am I happy I did it.

This book took 9 hours of reading which I did in less that 2 days. It hooked me from the very first page. And I made a record by reading while waiting in checkout line at H&M.

The book is witty, funny and philosophical poking at religion and gods. In a nutshell, a masterpiece. Let me tell you this, you are here for a fun ride. Spoiler ahead : “there is scene that people are worshipping and asking the god for help and the same god is being kicked by worshippers. “ This blew my mind ! How the hell did the writer come up with this idea ? Terry Pratchett is definitely a genius.

This book deserves some re-reads : I’ll do it in the future with hardback edition and audiobook which is narrated by Smigel from LOTR.
