5.0
Again I'm blown away by June Hur's writing and story! This book will stay in my mind for while!
This book takes place in 1758 Joseon-era Korea. We follow 18-year-old palace nurse Hyeon who just wants to do her work and get the approval of her father. But then four women are killed in a single night and her mentor is the one blamed for it. Hyeon knows she is innocent and she goes onto a dark path together with young police inspector Eojin to uncover the truth.
This book was just so good from the start, the writing is so good and to the point and it really feels like you are walking in the palace alongside Hyeon. It really had the historical drama vibes and honestly, that's all I wanted!
This book is again very dark and has many twists and turns which made it so hard to guess who the real killer could have been. My heart raced so fast at some points in the book and I just wanted to keep reading to know who did it.
Next to the murder mystery part of the book we also see a blooming friendship between Hyeon and Eojin and later maybe even something more... I loved their interactions and how stubborn Hyeon was.
Please read this book if you love historical settings, palace secrets and murder mysteries!
