A Good Girl's Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson

4.0
This was honestly such a rollercoaster to read. I've been wanting to read it for a while and have had my eye on it. Recently, I've been quite into YA thriller / mystery books and had heard good things about this one but never got around to getting myself a copy.
There were things that I loved and things that I wasn't so keen on in this book.
I loved the use of mixed media. It really helped to make reading the book more of an enjoyable experience. Pip's production logs helped me to keep on track on what was happening. There were A LOT of characters within this story and I always struggle with books that have big amounts of characters as I get confused with who is who and whose done what.
I love the strength of Pip's character. She's an independent, clever and quick-thinking young girl who knows what she wants and works hard until she gets it.
One thing I didn't quite like about the book though was that there were A LOT of twists and turns. And while I love a good plot twist, I did find that nearer the end of the story, the plot twist effect was starting to wear off.
For a YA novel, I felt a bit bogged under with tons of things that I was trying to remember so that I wouldn't be confused later on.
Overall, I did really enjoy the book. The time was worth waiting for it, and I fully understand the hype around the book.
Considering this is Holly Jackson's first novel, with such a complex story with links that all needed to be tied up, I give her big props.
I rate A Good Girl's Guide to Murder a 4/5 stars! -
