My relationship with Leigh Bardugo’s books hasn’t been the smoothest, but I haven’t given up yet and plan to try more of her work. Unfortunately, Ninth House was not a favorite of mine.

I absolutely loved the premise and the world-building, and the beginning had me really excited. But as the story went on, I found myself losing interest in both the plot and the characters. The pacing felt dragged at times, and I couldn’t shake the feeling that the book could have been tightened to around 400 pages.

While the ending did pick up, it felt rushed and overly heavy on descriptions rather than dialogue—which I personally would have loved to see more of.

Overall, it had potential, but it just didn’t land for me.
