It was more philosophical than I anticipated, exploring themes of death and life and what we leave behind. Who are we in the end if no one is around to tell our story? Does that even matter because we, at some point, will all be forgotten? I liked the main character Vesta a lot. Moshfegh loves her messy and sad and complicated female main characters.
