Queen of Madness by Lee Jacquot

5.0

This book. This book is phenomenal.
It is a dark mafia romance, alongside an Alice In Wonderland retelling. It is not Alice in Wonderland but takes aspects of it into the story.
This is so well written and has multiple POVs that aren’t just the FMC and MMC. Every character is so well thought out and immersed in the story.
We are following Ezekiel Kane to do whatever it takes to keep his sister safe, including working as a bodyguard for elusive mafia boss Onyx.
Onyx is the epitome of badass and cutthroat. Kane is equally intuitive and commanding. There is immediate chemistry between these two that they can't deny, no matter how bad for them it is.
We know to an extent from the beginning what is happening and the whole book I was waiting on the edge of my seat for the penny to drop.
The tension throughout this was amazing. The build-up was intoxicating. I could not wait to see how this played out. And I was not disappointed.
This book ends on a cliff-hanger, but it is worth it!
