The Lost Art of Keeping Secrets by Eva Rice

4.0

This book is more of a mood book, for lovers of all things English, old country houses, 50's nostalgia, and I think, anyone who loves I Capture the Castle. Here's a few things I like about this book:
characters names: Charlotte, Penelope, Harry
they are frequently having afternoon tea and riding on trains
the main characters uses the words "gosh" and "goodness" ("goodness, I don't know.")
they like listening radio programs, playing 78s on their gramophone, and are thrilled to see a Chevrolet
they live in a medieval country house - great hall, library, east wing, suits of armor and all
They have conversations like this: "She thinks I'm lazy." "Are you?" "Of course. Any sensible person is. Aren't you?"
they spend time shopping and dressing for parties
I don't know why I find all these things completely charming, but I do.
